沁园春 · 雪

北国风光，千里冰封，万里雪飘。
望长城内外，惟余莽莽；
大河上下，顿失滔滔。
山舞银蛇，原驰蜡象，欲与天公试比高。
须晴日，看银装素裹，分外妖娆。
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　
江山如此多娇，引无数英雄竞折腰。
惜秦皇汉武，略输文采；
唐宗宋祖，稍逊风骚。
一代天骄，成吉思汗，只识弯弓射大雕。
俱往矣，数风流人物，还看今朝。

沁园春           to the tune of Spring Beaming in Garden

雪               SNOW

北国风光，           What a scene is in the north found!
千里冰封，           A thousand li of the earth is ice-clad aground,
万里雪飘。           Ten thousand li of the sky is snow-bound.
望长城内外，         Behold!At both sides of the Great Wall,
惟余莽莽；           An expanse of whiteness conquers all;
大河上下，           In the Yellow River,up and down,
顿失滔滔。           The surging waves are gone!
山舞银蛇，           Like silver snakes the mountains dance,
原驰蜡象，           Like wax elephants the highlands bounce,
欲与天公试比高。     All try to be higher than heaven even once!
须晴日，             Come,when the day is fine and bright,
看银装素裹，         How you'll be enamoured of the beautiful sight,
分外妖娆。           To view the land adorned in silver and white.

江山如此多娇，       With so much beauty is the land endowed,
引无数英雄竞折腰。   So many heroes thus in homage bowed.
惜秦皇汉武，         The first king of Qin and the seventh king of Han,
略输文采；           Neither was a true literary man;
唐宗宋祖，           The first king of Song and The second king of Tang,
稍逊风骚。           Neither was noted for poetry or song.
一代天骄，           Even the Proud Son of Heaven,for a time,
成吉思汗，           Called Genghis Khan,in his prime,
只识弯弓射大雕。     Knowing only shooting eagle,over his tent with a bow so bent.
俱往矣，             Alas,all no longer remain!
数风流人物，         For truly great man,
还看今朝。           One should look within this age's ken.

七律 to the tune of Seven-character Lv Shi
 

 人民解放军占领南京 THE PEOPLE'S LIBERATION ARMY CAPTURES NANJING

钟山风雨起苍黄，Over the bell mountain a tremendous storm sweeps headlong,
百万雄师过大江。Crossing the Yangzi River,our army is mighty,a million strong.
虎踞龙盘今胜昔，Once a den of tiger and dragon,now a victorious town,
天翻地覆慨而慷。How excited we are,seeing heaven and earth upside-down!
宜将剩勇追穷寇，We now should pursue the defeated foe with our remaining power,
不可沽名学霸王。Ape not King Xiang for a fame of mercy in a lucky hour.
天若有情天亦老，Were Nature sentimental,she should have a dying day,
人间正道是沧桑。The change of seas into lands is Man's world's true way!
